A mid-day quickie

Not like that... gross.

If you'd like a bit more up-to-date information on CGI, I highly recommend you follow MayorOfCheese on Twitter. Or, just bookmark the following link:

Other than the coverage in the LA Times, the most exciting post is that chef Eric Greenspan of the Foundry on Melrose will be cooking up some sammies. It sounded cool at first, but if he's competing...

From Saturday's grilling practice

Anna took pictures of our very successful grilled cheese practice/party Saturday. She claims that a lot of them were not good, but we've got two.

In the first, you see me in action. I don't mean to brag, but I look like a grilling badass.

In the next, Justin and I are either talking strategy or shootin' the shit. Obviously, some cooking was going on because he's holding the nifty spatula he bought earlier from Sur la Table.

Can't wait for Saturday!

Going for the big W (Win, you moron),
The Guilded Cheese Wranglers

This is the week!

How rotten? I've had this blog for weeks and haven't posted a thing.

There have been many, many, many cheesy developments since my last blog posting.

The Gilded Cheese Wranglers (Anna, Justin, Rosa, Michelle, maybe Tomas, and I) are confirmed to compete in the 1st 7th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational which is this Saturday. The damn Burning Man people have not disclosed the location but should sometime today (according to something I got on Facebook).

We're entered in two categories: the honey pot and the karma sutra, no meat.

Anna and Justin will be holding it down in the karma sutra category with their combo of marble rye, goat cheese and munster. I can tell you from many tastes that it is glorious even after many tastes tests. Sandwich name: Goat on Rocket.

In the honey pot category, there's my entry, which consists for brie on English muffin. Fancy--I knooooow. The name of the sandwich is yet to be determined, but I'll let you know.

We've been practicing sporadically (because we've got day jobs and lives)and all cook-offs have yielded good results.

Also know that I haven't disclosed all ingredients just for the surprise element. Know that our sandwich will include some pretty powerful flavor elements which will make these sandwiches winners.

I'm That confident about it.

By the way, we have shirts. We're that serious about this, you'd think we were a cult or bowling league. Image to be posted soon. Thanks to Tomas and Eddie.

And so it began...

Honestly, I don't think Anna or I ever thought that we'd do this (not write a blog, silly)--enter in the Grill Cheese Invitational, more specifically, the 1st 7th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational. Laziness would be our downfall, but I don't know how we pulled it together, but we're entering with the team name The Gilded Cheese Wranglers.

Join us as we try to figure out the proper combos to make mind blowing grilled cheesy creations. The journey will be short as the the competition is in less than two weeks.
